Provisioning & Managing Numbers

Caller AI maintains a global inventory of phone numbers. You can search, purchase, and configure numbers directly from your dashboard.

Buying a New Number

To acquire a number:

  1. Navigate to the Phone Numbers tab.
  2. Click "Buy Number".
  3. Select your Country (e.g., United States, United Kingdom, Australia).
  4. (Optional) Enter a preferred Area Code or number sequence (e.g., 212 for New York).
  5. Click "Search" and select a number from the list.
  6. Confirm purchase. The monthly fee (typically $1.00 - $3.00 depending on region) will be deducted from your balance.

Regulatory Requirements (KYC)

Telephony regulations vary by country. In many regions, you cannot buy or operate a number without providing proof of identity or business registration.

United States (A2P 10DLC): While you can buy a number instantly, sending SMS traffic requires brand registration. Unregistered traffic is frequently blocked.
International (e.g., UK, Germany, France): You may be required to upload a "Regulatory Bundle" (Passport/ID and Proof of Address) before the number becomes active.

Releasing (Deleting) Numbers

If you no longer need a number (e.g., a campaign has ended), you should release it to stop recurring monthly charges.

  1. Go to Phone Numbers.
  2. Find the number you want to remove.
  3. Click the Trash/Delete icon.
  4. Confirm the release. This action is permanent. You likely cannot get this specific number back once released.

Porting Numbers

If you have an existing business phone number that you want to move to Caller AI:

  1. Do not cancel your current service (this may lose the number).
  2. Contact our support team to initiate a Number Porting Request.
  3. You will need to provide a recent bill (Letter of Authorization).
  4. Porting typically takes 1-3 weeks depending on the losing carrier.
